CCB raised the withdrawal limit per transaction at ATM to 2,500 yuan and 5,000 yuan for ATM with both deposit and withdrawal functions

With effect on October 1st, CCB raises the withdrawal limit per transaction from 2,000 to 2,500 yuan and from 2,000 to 5,000 yuan for ATM with both deposit and withdrawal functions.  Subsequent to raising the daily withdrawal limit of debit cards to 20,000 yuan in May, this is a further step to raise the withdrawal limits per transactions of both ordinary ATM and ATM with dual functions.

As instructed by the Central Bank in May, all domestic commercial banks started to raise the daily withdrawal limit from 5,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan which, to a certain extent, has relieved the serious queuing problem at outlets.  However, the majority of the banks has not adjusted the withdrawal limit per transaction which remain at 2,000 yuan.  This means that if a customer wants to withdraw 20,000 yuan, he or she has to do it 10 times, an annoying practice.

With careful consideration and comprehensive preparation, CCB has decided to upgrade all facilities that meet with the conditions to raise the withdrawal limit per transaction.  By October, more than 17,000 machines would be upgraded, representing 80% of all machines.  This would greatly enhance the efficiency of withdrawal by customers at ATMs.

According to a CCB representative, the Bank has instituted various measures and perfected relevant management systems to prevent possible problems arising from the increase of the withdrawal limits.  For instance, the Bank has formulated a reasonable notes distribution plan and increased the frequency of replenishing notes and machine clearing.  The ultimate aim is to ensure that customer interests are well taken care of.

“Customer focus” has always been the commitment of CCB.  The Bank always thinks from the perspective of the customer and strives to satisfy customer needs whenever possible given the present circumstances.  In the recent two years, the Bank has actively promoted self-service banking.  At present the total number of ATM machines has reached 22,000, leading other banks.  The number of functions of these self banking machines is over 100.  Customers can perform intra-accounts transactions, pay utilities, even buy and sell funds.  All these functions are recognised advanced at international level.  In 2007, CCB has added a new security feature in the ATM system.  In the past, fund transfers at ATM only showed the two account numbers and a relatively long number could easily cause mistakes.  Many customers worried that the fund might be transferred to the account of somebody else.  The new system will show the corresponding account name so that the transfer will be confirmed after the name is checked correct by the customer.  This will effectively eliminate transaction funds to a wrong person.

CCB is carrying out a series of measures to transform the outlets like improving the service workflow of the outlets and the transaction environment is optimised regularly.  This adjustment of the withdrawal limits will further relieve the pressure of the counter services and increase the quality of services.  With the reform measure of outlets gradually in place, the customers will find the bank’s services more comprehensive, much faster and more convenient.
