CCB Increases Investment in the Self-service Equipment and Raises
the Sophisticated Operational Capacity
Since the beginning of 2005 CCB has been increasing investment in
the self-service equipment, planning to build another 1,200 ATMs
and 110 self-service banks. By the end of April, the bank has installed
and operated altogether 13,183 ATMs which is the second largest
number among its peers and increases by 726 over the beginning of
the year; the number of self-service banks under operation was 543,
an increase of 53 over the beginning of the year; the cash withdrawal
transactions conducted through ATM reached 140.91 million, rising
by 7.99 percentage points over last year and the amount involved
stood at RMB84.2 billion, up 13.78% over the same period of last
year.
In recent years self-service banks in China expand rapidly, and the
self-service outlets of all Chinese banks are reaching out to the
business districts, office districts and residential communities
of major cities. Breaking the limit of time and space, the self-service
banks enable customers to enjoy round-the-clock financial services.
To raise the sophisticated operational capacity, CCB gradually uplifts
investment in the self-service equipment, which has effectively
cut the workload of counter staffs, shortened the queue at the peak
time and raised the service efficiency. The self-service equipment
not only offers customers convenience but also helps the bank to
come in line with the international standards. As the shareholding
reform of CCB moves ahead, to completely optimize its business outlets
and accelerate the development of self-service banks are the major
channels for CCB to expand the personal banking services.
Currently CCB¡¯s ATM offers the services of cash withdrawal, change
of password, balance enquiry, transaction detail enquiry, consumption
point check, remittance & transfer, debit card repayment, foreign
currency card acquiring and other special services. The daily ATM
cash withdrawal transactions throughout the bank exceed 1 million,
equaling the workload of more than 10,000 counter staffs. ATM has
become an important service channel of CCB. In its more than 500
self-service banks the automatic cash deposit machines, automatic
cash dispenser and automatic updating machines provide customers
with comfortable self-service environment. Pushing several buttons,
customers can easily withdraw or deposit money by themselves.
