Loans

Loans can be granted in a variety of forms on both a secured and unsecured basis. The following types are possible:

·Term loans - provided for a fixed period of time (usually one and more years). The interest rate is calculated on an agreed fixed or revolving floating rate on the drawn amount and is usually paid at three or six monthly period. The principal may be repayable in a lump sum at the end of the loan period or by regular quarterly, semi-annual or yearly installments over the loan period.

·Syndicated loans - the Bank participates in syndicated loans with companies and banks primarily in Europe , which are either on a revolving loan or term loan basis. Such loans are generally arranged by a Lead Managing bank on behalf of a single borrower and include a number of bank participants. The maturity of the facility is usually between one to five years.

·Schuldscheindarlehen (Borrower’s note loans) - We participate in smaller syndicated loans primarily for medium-scaled corporates, primarily in Germany which are arranged by lead arranging banks, for a period of 3 or more years. These loans are issued either on fixed interest rate or a 1, 3 or 6 months floating rate basis. These borrower’s note loans are based on the German BGB (German Civil Code). Therefore, the loan agreements are relatively short and comprise only a few pages. The participations of the different banks are evidenced in a special document (the “Schuldschein”) which can be assigned to other banks. This procedure of the German Borrower’s note loan is very simple, easy to handle, and, therefore, very popular for customer to pick up money at the capital market.
